The PoE 2 [0.4] ED Contagion League Starter Build offers an incredibly powerful and versatile option for new players and veterans alike. Using Essence Drain (ED) and Contagion as core skills, this build excels in clearing large packs of enemies while providing excellent single-target damage for bosses. Here’s how to effectively level and progress from level 1 to POE 2 Currency endgame with this build.



Early Levels (1–40)



Start by focusing on basic Chaos Damage scaling, which will be your main source of damage as you level up. The key skill, Essence Drain, becomes available early, allowing you to deal significant damage to enemies over time. Contagion, unlocked a little later, is used to spread Essence Drain’s damage to nearby enemies, making it incredibly efficient for clearing large packs.



For your gear, prioritize Chaos Damage, Life, and Energy Shield. Using the Void Battery or Doryani’s Catalyst when you can will greatly improve your damage. In terms of passive tree, focus on Chaos Damage, Energy Shield, and Life nodes to ensure you stay tanky and deal enough damage.



Midgame (40–70)



Around level 40, you’ll want to refine your damage output with Increased Area of Effect and Increased Damage Over Time nodes. At this point, your build can start clearing mid-tier content like Maps and Delve efficiently. Consider picking up the Darkray Vectors boots and Bisco’s Collar to enhance your farming efficiency.
