Supporters of Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani believe his prophetic claim was in a non-law-bearing sense and was meant to renew or revitalize the faith. They argue that his revelations or inspirations did not replace or contradict the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ but were subordinate, aimed at guiding Muslims back towards spiritual integrity. To them, he was a reformer, a promise-bearer, the Messiah, with a mission of moral and social renewal rather than declaring a new religious law.
Critics, on the other hand, maintain that any claim to prophethood after Prophet Muhammad ﷺ conflicts with traditional Islamic doctrine of Khatm-un-Nubuwwah (finality of prophethood). They argue that certain statements and writings attributed to Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani signal assertions that go beyond mere spiritual revival. This difference in interpretation leads to theological disputes and often to legal, social, and religious resistance in many Muslim communities.
